Speechless

I have been living in New York for the better part of 6 years. During those 6 years, I was never ashamed to say I was a part of this great city or its state... until now. Yesterday, the New York State Senate voted down the Marriage Equality Bill, outlawing gay marriage and essentially discriminating against the LGBT community. What happened in the New York State Senate yesterday has left me completely dumbfounded. For the first time since I moved here in August of 2004, I am ashamed of and embarassed by the place that I now call home.

I am too angry and sad to put eloquently into words how I feel about this. Luckily, some New York Senators made some of the most moving speeches I've ever heard. Listen and learn, people, listen and learn.
